24 May 2007 Robyn Wilson    dvdmasks Received the new dvd last week and really enjoyed it.  It was extremely informative and I couldn't wait to get to work on new projects.  My 8 year old daughter, Maureen is like a rock star to her (lol), are looking forward to future DVD's.
08 June 2007 Heather Courtney streaming video "I own two of Maureen's books and after pouring through them and learning techniques for sculpting realistic faces, I put my new knowledge to work for my business.  I make jack-in-the box toys, and I sculpt portraits from photographs that my customers send to me.  I needed to be a self-taught portrait sculptor.  I learned all the basics from those books and starting selling portrait jack-in-the-boxes to zillions of happy customers.  I even made a trip to Jordan, Minnesota to take a class from Maureen.  She gave me so much more that weekend and I felt that what I learned was priceless. It's been over a year since then, and I was in dire need of a refresher.  You should never stop learning and honing your craft.  So, I purchased the instructional video, 'Piece Masks and Realistic Faces segment clips taken from "Magical, Marvelous, Masks"' straight from the WeeFolk website for eight dollars.  What an amazing eye-opener! Seeing up-close, Maureen herself sculpting a character as she explained in clear and concise steps, was worth hundreds more than the
mere $8 price tag.  And if you buy the hard copy of the dvd, which is twice as long as the streaming, you get an $8.00 credit!  I had already used her techniques to do my work, but now I have a whole new tool set to work with.  If you are new to polymer clay or a seasoned professional you will get an amazing education here.  I am thrilled. And I am proud to call Maureen Carlson my teacher, mentor, and friend."

22 Aug 2007 Marilyn MacDonald streaming video I just watched the "Realistic Faces" video. It was awesome! I've  been struggling with putting faces together and this video showed me   what I was doing wrong. Thank you!

I just finished watching your video. You make it look so easy, but that is why you're the professional. The video is very enjoyable, your presentation is wonderful. I find your subtle adjustments to change facial expression most informative. The expressions you give your characters are fantastic. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and skill.

Puzzle-Face Molds

I have always wanted to sculpt faces. I’ve tried. Really, I’ve tried. I’ve read the books, seen the videos, watched Maureen Carlson on TV. Nope. I understand the theory, but my hands just don’t cooperate.

At Synergy I caught a glimpse of Carlson’s new Puzzle-Face Molds and I realized that this new generation of mold is more than just a mold - it is also a teaching tool. Puzzle-Face Molds are basic pieces that make up the structure of a face. In my opinion, they create a starting point for understanding the concepts related to sculpting a face. Once you are comfortable with the individual pieces, you can manipulate them to create different expressions, teaching yourself the next step in sculpting faces.

Yes - I got it! The instructions that I’ve seen in the past always made perfect sense, but I simply could not make my hands cooperate. When I saw your new molds I had one of those ‘aha’ moments and realized that you did what you do so very well: created and shared something that makes us feel safe enough to explore our own creativity.

Puzzle-Face Molds

The puzzle face mold was such an innovative idea!  I've been teaching classes in sculpting pixie faces from air dry - and breaking it down into the face parts.  To see them mirrored in a mold like that - what a brilliant idea!  All the tweaking that you can do in order to make completely different looks....  I'm hoping my students will all be lining up to purchase from you also.  Cheers, Sera Pinwill
