Lyrics of Mud

I don't have any hard feelings
I have no reason for disdain
It's not rocket science
It's so easy to explain
Sooner than later,
Like a Southbound freighter
It's going to rain, oh yes it is
It's going to rain rain rain

Now sometimes it's not enough to keep the fish jumping
Not enough to water our crops
Then there are times it's really thumping and bumping
It starts in the morning and never stops

I knew it had rained the night before
I found out how much when I opened the door
No doubt about it there must have been a flood
My whole back yard had turned to mud

Yeah, mud, mud everywhere
On the grass and picnic table
And all the chairs
On the sidewalk and hedge
Even my back stairs

On the way to my garage I came down with the blues
As I watched the mud splatter over my shoes
I watched it stick to the pedals and the floor of my car
As I drove across town and tracked it into a bar

After awhile I wasn't feeling any pain
The reason was simple and easy to explain
It's a proven fact
That slimy gray crud
When you have rain
There's going to be mud
Mud all around
Everywhere I look
There's going to be mud
