Lyrics of The Critic

The freedom of speech IS freedom, and a powerful tool
It can make you sound brilliant, or come off as a fool
Though my thoughts are harsh and a bit acidic
I will always say what's on my mind
Because I am a critic

One thing that worries me
Where has our independence gone?
Many of the things we made in the USA
Are now made in Taiwan

A new swing set for the kids
Or just a pair of pliers
A gas grille to barbecue
Or a new set of tires

Many politicians so high and mighty
Standing in front of a crowd
Their promises become silent
Though their speeches are so loud
Common sense forgotten or just set aside
Morals have gone rotten and almost petrified

Now I could complain and rant all day
I really don't know what for
The things I've heard some people say
Just put me on the floor

They take a stab at anything
Because "everything" is what they know
The only joy in life they bring
Is when they are heading towards the door

This world is not idyllic
We all know this to be true
I will always be a critic
And aren't you a critic too?
Yes, I bet you're a critic too
You're a critic too
